• Bad Air!

For those of you who are already training outdoors in Iowa, the following may be of concern to you.

The National Weather Service has issued an Air Quality Index for Iowa of "Orange", meaning that; amongst other sensitive groups, that "active adults" refrain from "extended physical activity" for the advisory period. Small particulate matter can penetrate to the deepest part of the lungs.

So, kiddies, if you value your lung capacity, you may want to nix any outdoor training sessions until Thursday. That's when the Weather Service says we can all "breathe easier"! They expect a "cleaner" air mass to move in by then.

Pollution sucks! We are in an "inversion" situation, where particulate matter gets concentrated to higher than normal amounts. Don't think that it's just in the cities, either. The Weather service measured an "orange" level of particulates at one of our more remote State Parks in southeast Iowa! So, take care. We don't often get these situations in Iowa, so I thought you all would like to know.

Maybe this is why I've had a dull headache for awhile!
