Todays mnt bike ride is in the books. I headed out at 8:15 on the NRS all loaded up with the items listed in the previous post. The ride was to meet at 9 AM. This extra time gave me a chance to hit up Look Out Park Hill a few times to get the blood moving. At 9 AM I meet up at Hooooo-la-hand's crib and waited for others. The only other person to show was Tim. Tim is a Europa regular. He is not a racer. He rides, just to ride. Good for him! I tip my hat to him for showing up for the ride. We waited around awhile thinking G-Ted would show, but he didn't.....tear. Where was G-Ted?
Anyway, we headed out north of Cedar Falls for the 7 mile gravel grinder to Camp Ingawanis. The ride was pretty mellow due to the difference in talent and fitness levels. The pace up to the Camp was around 18 mph. Not bad. There was a bit of sprinkles in the air, but not enough to get anything wet.
Once we got up to Camp Ingawanis we checked in, then aimed the tires towards the trails. We spent about 2.5 hours at Camp hitting up the maze of trails that now lace this place. Even had to ford the river. Now I have 2 wet pairs of Shimano cycling shoes. Oh, well.
Todays ride can be classified as a "Fat Burner" ride. It was the kind of ride where the energy source is body fat cause the pace is low enough. We had a great ride. The course was a bit sticky, but sticky in a good way. Had really good hook up with the Maxxis Ignitors.
After riding around in the woods for 2.5-3 hours, we gravel grinded back to town. I rode Hooo-la Hand home, then circled the park for another hour and change.
So that was that. Nothing really exciting happened on the ride, other than Hooo-la-hand getting a flat and then see that the joint in his rear rim was coming apart. Just a good ole ride with buddies. Speaking of Buddies...Where is Carl?
For those of you keeping track at home...Ride time for today: 5 Hours 32 minutes 12 seconds.
And...
The new Bell Sweep R is a rock'n helmet. You can hardly tell it's on your mellon cause it's so lite. Bonus! Should be great for those 12 and 24 hour events.
And...
What the hell is with the SPAM coming in thru the "Post a Comment" Geeez!
Tonight, if it's not raining, I get to work the night ride for the Cedar Trails Festival.
Wahoooooooo!
