Need the groove back.
I got back to Iowa early on Tuesday. Had enough time to unpack....take a short nap.....and saddle up on the mnt bike for the road group ride. I knew that the ride would be a death march just because of the last 2 weeks of travel on the road and out-of-routine training. Either way, I gave it a shot. Right out of town I jumped to open up the legs. Then the group caught up. Sure enough....we came to the first roller and I was off the back. I kept busting ass towards Finchford. Lucky for me the road out of Finchford got a fresh coat of tar and rocks. This slowed the roadies down enough to get them back with in striking distance. Up the 3 tier hill and I was about 30 yards off the back. On the back side I pushed it down the loose gravel.....turned the corner....and kept going. I went by all the guys. With in 5 minutes Kevin was on my wheel. We rolled on then turned to the East to head toward the Cedar Falls Gun Club. Here is where I ran into trouble. About 1.5 miles down the road I started to cramp in my left leg. This was totally my fault from drinking more coffee today than water. Once to the gun club I rolled south back home. Not exactly the ride I was looking for....but it will work for now. Just need to get the groove back.
